Jeff Davis, After the Fall of Fort Sumter 1861/1863

The expression of Jefferson Davis can be changed in this paper caricature from an open mouthed grin to a pop-eyed scowl by pulling the tab at the bottom. Inside the cutout window, the words Fort Sumter appear with either the dates 1861 or 1863, which refer respectively to the Confederate and Union victories over this venerable and symbolic bastion in Charleston harbor.
